Full time
youth worker
We have decided to
employ a full time youth worker through the Norwich
Youth For Christ, "Fusion" scheme.
This job is now
being advertised in the national Christian press. The closing date
for all applications is the 27th November 2004.
Please pray as
these applications are reviewed and the applicants interviewed and
that we get the right person.
Baptism
Eight youth people
are being baptised on Saturday evening, 20th November, at 6.30pm.
This is open to everyone and will be a great time of rejoicing.
Leaders
Vacancies
There are various
vacancies right across the youth and children's work and there are
other activities that we would like to start that need leaders.
Particularly the need in Oasis (see below), Bible class, 15+.
All vacancies
require child protection procedures now to be followed.
Unsure of what
area is right for you? Ask for a discussion with George Herbert.
Oasis
We are now
struggling for female leaders for the Friday youth group. Come next
Easter we make not have sufficient female cover to run Oasis and we
may have to either make it a male only group or cancel some Fridays.
Bible class
Once PDL is over,
Bible class will be following the Rock solid 2 material as supplied
by Norwich Youth for Christ.
Weekend
away at Letton Hall
Dates: 25-27
February 2005
We have moved into
the main hall, which runs the risk of not having sufficient numbers
to make the weekend break even.
Alan Gardner a
full time youth worker from Liverpool is our guest speaker.
Leaders meeting
We have leaders
meetings every third Wednesday, every other month. This gives us
chance to meet together to discuss and pray on all aspects of youth
work. These alternate between the Nice's and the Gunn's. November's
meeting as been cancelled because of PDL and therefore the next
meeting will be the 19th January 2005. |

Training
We are
recommending two training courses:
A year long on the
job training package, Infusion, for young people between 13 & 19.
What
Every Volunteer Youth Worker Should Know"
courses run at Fakenham Baptist church. These are for 3 whole
Saturdays (9am to 5pm). One is currently running, but there will be a
new one starting in the New Year.
The church helps
in the cost of these training events.
Mal
Fletcher
(international youth speaker and author) is coming to Norwich!
He will be leading
an informal youth leader's seminar at the City church, Nelson Street,
on Saturday 11th December 2004, from 2pm to 5pm.
Child
Protection Policy
The Child
Protection procedures are now in place and should be followed fully.
Particularly no new appointments should be made without:
It is very
important that no new person starts any activities without going
though these procedures fully. Please note - it may take one to two
months to complete these procedures. Application forms can be
obtained direct from our youth web site or from George Herbert.
We will be having
a new child protection training course one evening in the New Year.
Key workers
All youth people
have been allocated a Key worker. This is their first point of
contact that they or their parents have any issues with Meadow Way
Chapel youth work. Also the key worker keeps a special
Afterchurch
Due to poor or no
attendance over recent months we have decided to cancel this until
after PDL. We will review the future of this event at our next youth
leaders meeting.
Prayer
Please remember
all the young people and children in Prayer.
