Recommended Web sites

This is a list of personal recommended web sites. If you feel that a certain link should not be listed here, or that the link is wrong please contact me George Herbertfor review.

So why use the internet and where do I start?

The following web sites I have logged on and consider good starting points to explore what the Internet has to offer.

1. Bringing people together

One of the great things about the internet is that it allows you to meet old and new friends easily. Ok there are many dangers and I am sure you have heard of many scare stories, but the Internet is a great way  to bring many people together. Below are a few sites to help you.

Friendsreunited:

Meet old friends from school and work. At www.friendsreunited.com you can get in touch with old friends.

2. Shopping

The second great thing about the Internet is that it has opened up shopping on line. Often items are cheaper on the Internet against the high street chains and you get hold of difficult items.
Again I recommend you use one of the many comparison sites, as often one particular item is cheaper on one site and another related item is cheaper on a second. This particular true for Cds and Dvds. Watch out too for postage and packing.
Again watch out for those too good to be true bargains, because often they are not. For that reason I don't recommend ebay, as you often take a risk and have no real come back if you fail. I have never used them but I know other friends use ebay a lot.
